A City Rich in History
Bellbrook was founded in 1816 when Stephen Bell, a local landowner, donated land for the town. Its name combines Bell’s surname with the nearby Little Sugar Creek, often called a brook. Early Bellbrook prospered thanks to its gristmills and sawmills, which supported the surrounding farming community. Officially incorporated as a city in 1974, Bellbrook has maintained its small-town charm while growing steadily. The Bellbrook Historical Museum, housed in a preserved 19th-century schoolhouse, offers a window into the town’s pioneer past. Today, Bellbrook is also known for its annual Sugar Maple Festival, a celebration of community spirit that attracts visitors from across the Miami Valley.
