0:06 Centerville Basement Remodel

This is a Centerville basement remodel. If you saw the first video, you saw the before. This is the after.

0:18 Flooring, Stairs, and Open Ceiling

We have LVP flooring, matching treads with painted risers going up the steps. We painted the existing railing black. We left the ceiling open and painted it all black, with black rings on the can lights.

0:36 Storage and Bathroom Updates

We made a storage area over here. This wall is new, with a pocket door. The bathroom was already here; we just remodeled it. It's a half bathroom.

0:55 A Simple Basement Wet Bar

This is what we would consider a more simple, basic wet bar. Typically, it's going to be a couple of bottom cabinets and a mini fridge, or you could do a third cabinet. It's around an eight-foot range.

The sinks that we commonly see down in basements are around a 15-inch single sink, with a faucet and floating shelves. You can have shelves or not have shelves, depending on what you want for your design.

1:28 Countertops and Wet Bar vs. Dry Bar

For countertops, you can pick quartz, granite, or quartzite. This is typically what we would do for a simple bar in the basement. We can do a wet bar or a dry bar. A dry bar basically means there's no plumbing and no sink.

1:38 White Trim and Black Railing Accents

We were going to stain all the baseboards to match the existing doors, but we wound up painting everything white. We also added painting the railing on the stairs black. Those were add-ons once we got into the job.

They thought they knew what they wanted. They wanted it all stained, and then they switched it up. We're okay with minor changes like that. If they had done it the way they originally wanted, I think they still would have felt like it was a little outdated. The bar was outdated.

Making those little changes really didn't slow down the process, besides ordering cabinets and things like that.

2:26 Making the Most of a Smaller Basement

It's not super big down here, but it's actually spacious. I like the stairs in the middle of the basement. It's really cool to be able to come down with the stair rails going down.

Even with a size like this, you can still have plenty of areas: a daybed, the bar area, seating, a couch, a TV, a little foosball table, a bathroom, and storage. Back there is another storage area underneath the steps. There's still a lot you can do, even with a smaller basement.

2:50 Open Ceiling and Coordinated Finishes

I think the open ceiling looks really good. It also offers cost savings compared to doing drywall. It looks good with all the black accents and the floor colors.

The customer did a really good job picking out the tones of the paint, the floor, the cabinets, and the countertop. Overall, I think this basement came out looking really good compared to where it started.

3:17 Free Estimates and Design Renderings

This is a remodel, rather than coming in from concrete walls and finishing it out. Estimates are free. With a basement finishing project, it's a blank slate. We'll give you a 3D rendering, and we'll have that estimate to you within 24 to 48 hours.

Just call 937-689-1635 or fill out the contact form on the website, goodguyhomeimprovements.com.

Even with a remodel, we can still get you a 2D and a 3D rendering. Those come with our estimates. They're line by line, so we can go through and work with everything on there. Thanks for watching.

Discover Centerville

A City Rich in History

Founded in 1796, Centerville grew quickly as pioneers settled between Dayton and Cincinnati. Its location along early roads made it a key stop for travelers and trade. Centerville is best known for its collection of historic stone houses, built from local limestone during the 19th century. Many of these homes, such as the Asahel Wright House (1806) and the Aaron Nutt Cottage (1804), still stand today and represent some of the oldest structures in Montgomery County. The city also features the Town Hall Theatre, originally built in 1908 and now a hub for the arts. With its preserved history and modern amenities, Centerville blends small-town charm with a strong sense of heritage.
